Lady Vereker helped to found Britain’s leading theatre for children, Polka Theatre, where she worked for over 20 years. She has received several awards for creating innovative business partnerships in support of the performing arts.
Accompanying her husband to Bermuda, where he was Governor from 2002 to 2007, she was and continues to be involved in a number of Bermudian organizations in the areas of the arts and environment. She opened Government House as a showcase for local professional artists and the National Trust to display their work and collections; and managed an extensive re-landscaping of the grounds and gardens to leave as a legacy to future generations.
Building upon the strong cultural and historical ties among Bermuda, the United Kingdom and the United States, Lady Vereker helped to bring touring companies to participate in the Bermuda Festival of Performing Arts; and organized Bermuda’s Masterworks Collection to exhibit at London’s Guildhall Art Gallery, Louisiana’s RW Norton Foundation, and South Carolina’s Gibbes Museum of Art.
She is currently a Trustee of The Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences and Honorary Patron of the Bermuda Audubon Society. In the UK she is Patron of Polka Theatre, Trustee of Classical Opera, Trustee of UK BIOS Associates and Honorary Patron of BirdLife International.
