Our history

The Bermuda Society was incorporated in 1986, the brainchild of former Bermuda premier Sir John Swan, former governor the Viscount Dunrossil, and Sir Peter Gadsden, former lord mayor of the City of London. They envisioned a non-profit organisation that would promote Bermuda as a respected jurisdiction for global business and strengthen mutually beneficial links between the island and the UK as symbiotic centres of excellence.

That has been the Society’s mission ever since. The group works to uplift Bermuda as a hub of world-class financial services, and support its wealth of cultural, scientific, strategic, and educational connections to Britain and beyond.
